Is technology making us ill?Mobile phone technology has for most of us become an essential part of modern living and business practice. It could be viewed that not to have a mobile phone is seriously inconvenient. Moreover the sophistication of the gadgetry is developing at pace: more compact, greater functions or APPS as they now call it – one has to be a ‘geek’ to keep up with it.Of the detrimental effects of this technology is not being widely disseminated; understandably for who would wish the burgeoning communications industry to be nipped in the bud and revert to fixed landline telephones and data transfer and reading newspapers in cafés? Or meeting people face to face? The effect of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) upon living organisms is negative, detrimental, and destructive. Around mobile phone masts people have developed cancers (cancer clusters). Others have developed brain tumours with the use of mobile phones. Although these cases may be incidental, it is claimed, there are increasing numbers of people becoming sensitive to all emanations from electronic appliances – phones (mobile & DECT), WiFi, microwave ovens, lap and desktop computers, TV, high voltage power lines and any other application of electrical energy including the radiations from modern (energy efficient!) light bulbs. The atmosphere is 'thick' with the pulsations of EMR especially in the dense urban areas and even greater in schools, places of work or in your own home. There is no spot on habitable earth where modern created electromagnetic radiations are not streaming through you. The ‘Electromagnetic Load’ is being touted as a factor in many illnesses.Studies have been and are being conducted to measure the effects of the increasing load of electromagnetic radiations on humans. One authority quoted by the Next-Up organisation is Dr. Thomas Rau, Medical Director of the Paracelsus Clinic in Lustmühle, Switzerland. He says he is convinced 'electromagnetic loads' lead to cancer, concentration problems, ADD, tinnitus, migraines, insomnia, arrhythmia, Parkinson's and even back pain.Importantly, Dr Rau alerts us to the detrimental effects of EMR on the bacteria of the digestive tract – the flora and fauna of our intestines. He maintains that all should take measures to improve intestinal tract flora because beneficial bacteria grow more slowly in the presence of electromagnetic fields, allowing pathological organisms to dominate. This single fact of ‘gut’ heath was and still is the mainstay of natural healing methods. ‘Death lurks in the intestines’ is the adage. When one knows an estimated 80% of immune function arises from the intestinal health, then we must take extra care of the abdominal functions. ProbioticsMuch has been touted concerning the benefits of friendly bacteria which live in our intestines. Intestinal dysbiosis (an imbalance or overgrowth of harmful bacteria in the intestines) is attributed to many immune disorders – and is ranked high as a causative factor or resulting of diseases. Antibiotics are a prime concern in promoting dysbiosis. But also consider the effects of mobile phone and other of technologies’ radiations. The gradual and almost indiscernible lowering of health is not necessarily attributed to the office environment or to having a mobile phone on your person and often glued to your ear. Could the widespread Candidiasis (Candida albicans overgrowth) and associated fungal infections be attributed to, in part or in whole, to excessive ERM exposure? Dr Rau suggests a strategy for electrically sensitive patients, or with those facing chronic conditions, is the aggressive supplementation with probiotics and other natural approaches to balance intestinal flora. This is medicine for all! Electrical sensitivity, originally known as radio wave sickness, is a debilitating experience created by the effects of electromagnetic fields. If this occurs in extreme cases the person is unable to live in a place cluttered with electrical appliances. Such EMR sensitive people are on the increase. A place in the south of France has been established as a ‘hiding’ place for such suffers to spend healing time. Patients of the Paracelsus Clinic, Switzerland, with chronic disease and cancer, are educated in electromagnetic field remediation strategies. And in Swiss precision fashion inspectors from the Geopathological Institute of Switzerland are sent to patients’ homes to assess electromagnetic field exposures! This is also expounded in an article “Earth Energies, Dowsing and Human Frailty” – by Cornelis van Dalen, 2007. This article considers the effects of earth energies, weather systems, and modern technology on the human energy field in chronic disease (especially cancer) and in behaviour. Why one needs to move the bed if you are sick. To this we can add to an audit of EMR of your home and place of work. What to do?Educate yourself and your family on the nature of EMR’s and its effect of living organisms and what measures you can take to remain physically and mentally functional, meaning in health. Limit exposure; use technology minimally and efficiently.Improve diet and intestinal health. Consider probiotics as a daily addition to the diet. Add digestive enzymes, liquid chlorophyll and fenugreek if digestion and elimination is below par. Traditional European cultures have naturally incorporated fermented milk products in their diet. Yoghurts contain the essential probiotics – the now called friendly bacteria to maintain gut biosis for health. Other foods which affect digestive health are sourdough breads – traditionally made from rye. Also sauerkraut – naturally fermented cabbage was central in the preserved food menu. All these foods provide the consumers with lacto-bacillus bacteria essential for proper digestion. Additionally the foods are slightly sour – this in itself is easing acidity of the body functioning. The use of supplements and adjuncts to the diet have become for most people a necessity or a practical solution to nutritional requirements. My natural health tip is to take a course of probiotics and digestive enzymes and monitor the effects. Better digestion and elimination is the key to health. In cases where there is abdominal distension, gas, rumblings and spasms in various locations, then soothing herbal compound such as fenugreek and fennel may be of assistance; and liquid chlorophyll is a natural deodoriser.
